In the Future, Everyone will have his own Television Channel

"In the future, everyone will have his own television channel."
--Tom Hayes

Yes, if you happened to catch my quote in Fast Company’s blog you know my belief that one day each of us will have our own television channel.  At that point, our concept of television may be very different from what it is today, but you get the picture.  Of course, in 1997, in a Web Magazine (now defunct) cover story on my Webstock project, I stated that “the Internet would become television on steroids.” Yes, it was in bold type, too.   However, I think I can be forgiven for the enthusiasm, because: 1. at the time, we all had mighty hopes for the web, and; 2. no one knew much about juice back then.  Today, wiser, I might call the next Internet “television on meth.”  Just keeping it real.

If you had doubts about this reality, the recent announcement by Anheuser-Busch of its seven-channel web network Bud.tv., should wipe that away with a bar towel.

Anyway, I need your assistance in checking out three new contenders for base stations in the private-label TV world ahead.  The candidates are Blip.tv, Lulu.tv and Kickapps.com.  Rather than rant or riff on their approaches, I’d like to ask you to do a demo, and then loop back in the future with the link so that we can all take it for a ride.  Remember: your revolution will be televised.   And then viralized
